Holy Name Youth Ministry is seeking adult mentors who will walk a journey with our teens and Christ.
We are forming an Adult Youth Ministry Core Team that will work alongside our parish youth ministry coordinators to shape the future of ministry with middle and high schools.
What is this? Well, when I was brought on board to help the parish explore expanding the scope of youth ministry, I knew right away that no matter what happens in the future, a TEAM is needed to help discover the way. A TEAM of mentors who love Jesus, love Holy Name parish, love teens, and have a genuine desire to create engaging, impactful (and of course fun) ministry experiences for teens.
At first, the Core Team will be more think-tank in nature: what can we be?
In the Summer of 2019, the Core Team will participate in at least two training sessions that will educate and inspire team members to be true pioneers: exploring uncharted territory for the young Church of Holy Name!
Here’s a peek into the future:
In 2019, it’s hard to get teens to come to youth group activities. That’s not a Holy Name problem. That’s a Catholic Church issue I’ve seen throughout NWI Indiana and beyond. Teens are busy (or apathetic). Parents are busy (or apathetic). So youth ministry strategies have to evolve to acknowledge this reality. As you might imagine, I have some ideas!
You are invited to attend a no-obligation Information Meeting about the team on Sunday, May 19th, 6-7:30pm, in the Parish Office. At the meeting you can find out more, and see if it’s a good fit for you.
I know the last thing most people want is another “thing” in their life. It is my goal to make this team more than just a series of mind-numbing meetings! It is my goal to empower this team to truly transform young lives.
I hope you will attend May 19th!
Easter Blessings
